Nicholas “Nick” Casstevens November 6, 1981 – August 12, 2025
BOONVILLE – Nicholas “Nick” Casstevens, 43, of Boonville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born November 6, 1981, in Forsyth County, Nick was the cherished son of Roger Dale and the late Kathy Bates Casstevens.
From a young age, Nick’s life was rooted in the values of hard work, dedication, and family. He began working alongside his beloved grandfather, J. Lee Casstevens, on the family farm, where he developed a deep love for the land that never left him. Farming—whether tending to crops or raising poultry—was not just his livelihood, but a part of who he was.
Nick was well known for his warm heart, quick wit, and ability to bring laughter into any situation, even during life’s most challenging moments. He had an undeniable gift for craftsmanship—there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. One of his most meaningful creations was the wooden cross that still hangs in the sanctuary of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member.
Above all, Nick’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Wyatt Ethan and Brynlee Nicole. He poured his heart into being a loving and devoted father, never missing a chance to cheer them on or coach their soccer and baseball teams. His kindness and care extended far beyond his own children—every player he coached felt like family to him.
Nick was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Bates Casstevens; his maternal grandfather, Allen Bates; paternal grandparents, J. Lee and Annie Bell Casstevens; and his uncle and aunt, James Lee and Mabel Steele Casstevens.
He leaves behind his children, Wyatt Ethan Casstevens and Brynlee Nicole Casstevens; their mother, Magen Dodds Casstevens; his father, Roger Dale Casstevens; his brother, Emory (Kristy) Casstevens; his sister, Heather (Brian) Howard; grandmother, Jean Holbrook Bates; aunts, Jo Anne Bates and Dianne Casstevens; uncle, David (Ann) Bates; nieces and nephews, Kassey Casstevens, Carson Casstevens, and Emma Howard; great-niece, Windi Casstevens; and numerous close friends whom he loved as family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A celebration of Nick’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Link officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their loving care given to Nick.
Nick’s laughter, craftsmanship, and love will be forever remembered. His legacy will live on in the fields he tended, the friendships he cherished, and the lives he touched.
