Mr. Noah Leon Wooten, 88, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was born in Yadkin County on April 22, 1937 to Pride Wooten and Lola Wooten. Leon retired from AT&T. Following retirement, he picked up many different “second careers”, his most recent was working for Doub Excavating. Leon enjoyed spending time at the lake and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, and UNC Tarheels. Leon will be very missed by all who loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Trasker Wooten, Glendon Wooten, Gaynell Doub, Virgie Mathis, Thomas Wooten, and Shelby Vestal. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret Wooten; daughters, Robin Wooten, Sherry Wooten, and Alison Shore; grandchildren, Lindsay (Tyler) Fitzgerald, Travis (Elise) Shore, and Nicholas Wooten; great-grandchild, Kent Fitzgerald, who was Leon’s pride and joy; brother, Samuel (Patricia) Wooten; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Union Grove Baptist Church, 2401 Nebo Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kenny Gooden officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 2401 Nebo Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055, The American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741, or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Wooten family.
