Norris Dale Mathis

Boonville- Norris Dale Mathis,73, died Tuesday March 15, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born in Surry County, NC on March 29, 1948; son of the late Bob Glenn Mathis and Nadie Shore Mathis. Dale was a loving husband, daddy and pawpaw. After retiring as a long-distance truck driver, he enjoyed his veggie garden, (tinkering) with his tractors and his truck. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his four sisters; Virginia Messick, Polly Bowman, Rita Bryant and Marilyn Long, two brothers; Noah Mathis and Sanford Mathis. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years; Nettie Royall Mathis, two children; Brenda Mathis Trent (Jason) and Jenny Mathis Higgins (Jerry Roten), grandson; Isaac Higgins, two great grandchildren; Liam Higgins and Cameron Trent, three sisters; Valma Riggins, Claris Collins (Tommy) and Audrey Hobson and a brother; Bill Mathis. A visitation will be held Friday March 18, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held Saturday March 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Weston Parks officiating. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.
