Patty Church Hinshaw

Patty Church Hinshaw, 85, of East Bend, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on September 13, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Born on February 7th, 1941 in Yadkin County, Pat was the daughter of the late William Church and Lula Joines Church. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Richmond Hill Baptist Church, where her love for Jesus and her church family was evident in all she did. She was a member of the Purple Hat Ladies and lovingly prepared countless meals and served in many church opportunities. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found great joy in worshipping and serving the Lord.

Pat had a true love for golf. She enjoyed her women’s golf games, the friendships she made on the course, and the time spent enjoying a game she loved. Some of her most treasured memories were made traveling and playing golf with her husband, Bruce. Whether on the golf course or enjoying time together at home, Pat cherished the life they built side by side. When she wasn’t on the golf course, Pat could often be found tending to her flowers, spending many hours working on her flowers. She took great pride in the beauty she created and found joy in nurturing the flowers she loved.

Family was at the very center of Pat’s life. She loved nothing more than cooking for her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy and brought her endless happiness. The love she poured into her family will live on through the memories they made, the traditions she created, and the countless ways she made each of them feel loved.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Len Hinshaw; great-grandson, Nolan Lee Williams; and sisters, Opal Blanton, Dorothy Church, Virgina Church Mildred (Paul) Hennings, Velma (James) Royall and brothers, Roy (Ruby) Church, and Ray Church.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bruce Hinshaw; daughters, Zoe (Perry) Williams and Allison (Tom) Luper; son, Barry (Sherry) Hinshaw; grandchildren, Tyler (Kendall) Hinshaw, Brandon (Emma) Hinshaw, Gray Williams, Jessica Williams, Sophia (Jacob) Luper, Jimmy (Misty) Luper, and Reggie (Kerrie) Luper; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Nancy Ford, as well as many nieces and nephews and very special friends, Larry and Peggy Hauser.

Pat’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith, her love for her family, and her joy in the simple blessings of life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service to celebrate Pat’s life will be held Wednesday, September 16th at Richmond Hill Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Will Hamric. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Wednesday at Richmond Hill Baptist Church, with the service starting at 4:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to caregivers Lois McCormick, Courtney Sloan, Angie Shore, and Krista Shelton, and to all who shared their love, prayers, and support during Pat’s life and final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
