Patty Ann Long Martin

Yadkinville - Mrs. Patty Ann Long Martin, 87, passed away Monday October 24, 2022. Patty was born February 4, 1935 in Yadkin County to Davis and Minnie Sheek Long. She graduated from Yadkinville high school and Appalachian State University. She was an exemplary wife, mother and sister; always helping whenever she was needed and in any way she could. She worked for Yadkin County Social Services for 30 years with the last 5 being as Director. She was as dedicated to her job as she was to her family and helped many people in need over the course of her career. She was an excellent cook, a voracious reader and was never afraid to tackle a new problem or acquire a new skill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Martin, nephew Robbie Long, brother-in-law Jr. Groce and Freddie Martin, and infant niece Elizabeth Long. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years Carlton Martin, son Jim (Pam) Martin, grandson Zach Badgett, and great-grandson Chase Martin. Sisters Jane (Larry) Long, Nina (Jr.) Groce, nephew Lee Groce and niece Beverly Long. At Patty’s request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to one of her and Julie’s favorite charities: The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC, 20037.
