Patty Sue Childress Dinkins

Mrs. Patty Sue Childress Dinkins, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 1st, 2026 at SECU Mountain Valley Hospice Care Center in Yadkinville. Patty was born October 2, 1940 to the late Clyde Childress Sr. and Mary Ruth Speer in Yadkin County and lived in Yadkinville throughout most of her life.

She graduated Yadkinville High School in 1958 and married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Dinkins, later that year. She worked for Bates Nightwear in Yadkinville for over thirty years, and later retired from the Yadkin County School System where she served in the cafeteria for 10 years.

In addition to her parents, Patty is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wayne. She is survived by her daughter and primary caregiver Phyllis Dinkins and her son Mike (Gina) Dinkins; her grandsons, Josh Dinkins and Andrew (Liz) Dinkins; and great-grandson, Kallaway Dinkins.

The family would like to thank Patty's close friend, Barbara Hutchins and additional caretaker, Margie Childress for their love and care.

A service of remembrance will not be held.  Gentry Family Funeral Services in Yadkinville is serving the Dinkins family.
