Paul Dana Coleman

Paul Dana Coleman, 81, of Hamptonville, North Carolina, passed away on September 20, 2026.

Paul was born June 15th, 1945, in Wilkes County and was a long-time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Windy Gap. He spent much of his life working as a Tyson grower. More than his work, however, he will be remembered for the things that brought him joy throughout his life and his genuine enjoyment of people. Paul never met many strangers and was always happy to strike up a conversation with someone he had just met.

As a young man, Paul enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. After his school years, he continued his love of sports through softball and spent time riding motorcycles with friends and bird hunting. As he grew older, some of his greatest enjoyment came from watching his girls play sports. He was also a fan of NASCAR racing—which was sometimes just as good for a nap as it was for watching a race—college basketball, the WNBA, and Westerns. He was an avid reader as well.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Priscilla Williams Coleman; his parents, Dana and Addie Coleman; and his siblings, Edward Coleman, Gearldean Cook, Cledus Somers, Dorothy Prevette, and Ruth Gaither.

He is survived by his three daughters, Gwen (Michael) Callaway, Janet (Mike) StJohn, and Paula (Spanky) Brown; his grandchildren, Houston Callaway, Molly Callaway, Clay (Victoria) StJohn, RuthGrace StJohn, Quinton (Kayla) Anderson, and Lane Anderson; and his great-grandchildren, Knox, Noa, and Nash Anderson.

Paul is also survived by his siblings, Roger Coleman, Paulette (Jerry) Osborne, and Diane Little, along with extended family and friends who will miss his conversation, company, and familiar presence.

A private service will be held for Paul’s immediate family, with Pastor Doug Goforth officiating. The family also wishes to recognize Pastor Goforth and his wife, Debbie, for their friendship and support.
