Peggy Christy Padgett

Peggy Elizabeth Knight Christy Padgett, 55, of Hamptonville, passed away on January 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 24, 1968, in Greensboro, NC to her parents Pete Knight and Geneva Martinez Bourgeois. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and Nonnie. To friends, Peggy always made sure everybody felt part of the family, even if they just met. Welcoming people that would stay to camp on her property and encouraging them to have a good time and be safe. Peggy worked at Small Folks Childcare in Yadkinville, NC for over 22 years. Her love for children and her drive to teach were her passion. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Padgett, and her previous husband Paul Francis Christy, Jr. She is survived by her children; Amanda Christy and Joshua Christy; step-children, Marcus Padgett (Amanda) and Lacey Wilson (Zach); her grandchildren, Florence Wilson, Amelia Wilson, Grayson Black, and Cooper Padgett; her father, Pete Knight and step-mother Judy Knight; her mother, Geneva Bourgeois and step-father Bernard Bourgeois; her siblings, Kristie Knight Gonyea (David) and Jason Knight (Millicent); her step-siblings Candace Bourgeois Wood (Ryan), and Derek Bourgeois (Rachael); her parent-in-laws Paul Francis Christy, Sr and Jeanne Christy; her brother-in-law Brian Christy (Shana); as well as her loving, very large, extended family. At Peggy’s request, there will not be funeral or memorial services. There will be Celebration of Life for her on Saturday, January 20, 2023 at 12:00 at the VFW Building at Brooks Cross Roads Hamptonville, NC followed by a bonfire at her home on Hunting Creek. Peggy’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks all who visited, brought food and called and to all the staff at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
