Mrs. Peggy Ann Hester York, 86, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born June 2, 1939 to the late Virgil and Ruby Hester. Peggy dedicated many years of her life working for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before retiring to focus on what she cherished most — her home and family. She was a devoted homemaker who found joy in cooking, tending to her garden, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. To them she was mama and mamaw and was loved beyond measure. She enjoyed Sunday lunches with her family and it was the highlight of her week. A faithful servant of the Lord, Peggy lived her life with grace, kindness, and unwavering love. She was truly the heart of her home, always knowing just what to say to bring comfort and peace to those around her. Her warmth and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth York whom she was married to for 65 years. Her brothers Thurmond and Rick (Mary "Butch") Hester as well as a brother-in-law Arthur York and Harold Messick. She is survived by her children, Yvonda Brown (Phil), Brian (Tracy) York and Deborah York; Grandchildren Brandi (Chad) Snow, Natalie York, Emily (Lincoln) Davis, and Derrick Adams; and great-grandchild Avery Jane Davis. She is also survived by her brother Bill (Ivadine) Hester and sister Betty Jane Messick. Sister in laws Betty Hester, Peggy York, and Karen (Mike) Norman, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Peggy’s legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. The family will receive friends, Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Turner’s Creek Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. We rejoice in knowing she is with her Heavenly Father and we will see her again. Until then our hearts will long for her.
