Ramey Joe Freeland, 53, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2026 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born on December 30, 1972, Ramey was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, strength, and sense of humor touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kind soul, and the countless memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
Ramey was preceded in death by his father, Bryant Freeland; his mother, Shirley Freeland Winebarger; his brother, Charles "Lynn" Freeland; and his stepfather-in-law, Odell Mendenhall.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marna Freeland; his son, Garrett Freeland (Kayden Taylor); his sister, Rena (Eric) Adams; his sister-in-law, Penny Freeland; his brother-in-law, Brad (Shelly) Patton; his mother-in-law, Jenny Mendenhall; his father-in-law, Bill (Pat) Patton; his stepfather, Roger Winebarger; his stepsisters, Nancy Winebarger and Margie Keyantash; his nieces, Makayla (Matt) Wetrick and Destinee Adams; his nephew, Gabe Adams; his beloved fur baby, Izzy; special friends, April Shore and David and Michelle Pritchard and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Ramey lived life with enthusiasm, humor, and a deep appreciation for the people he loved. He had a passion for hunting, enjoyed playing the drums, and had a lifelong love of music. He was also a devoted Mopar enthusiast.
More than any hobby, however, Ramey treasured time spent with his family. You never had to second guess Ramey’s loyalty and love for his wife and son. Ramey and Marna’s love for each other was genuine and true like no other. Everyone knew he loved her just by the way he always looked at her, and there was never a day that he didn’t tell her how pretty she was, and how much he loved her. He loved to spoil her and they did everything together. Ramey was also such a proud and dedicated father who thought there was nothing like Garrett. If Garrett called or texted, Ramey would drop whatever it was that he was doing to help him out in any way he could. He cherished working alongside him, whether it was on their Roadrunners, home projects, or shared passions. Everyone he met knew how proud he was of Garrett.
Whether in the woods, behind a drum set, listening to his favorite music, working on a Mopar project, or spending time with family, Ramey embraced every moment and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a jack of all trades who knew everything about anything. He would always tell his wife and son that he ‘would take care of it’. Ramey was such a kind soul to everyone he met and he absolutely loved life.
Though his passing was unexpected, the love and memories Ramey shared with his family and friends will remain forever in their hearts. His legacy of love, loyalty, and devotion to those he cared about will continue to inspire all who knew him.
