Mr. Randy Jenkins, 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. He was born in Burke County on December 6, 1945 to Thomas Jenkins and Pauline Farris Jenkins. Randy was a born-again child of God and loved The Lord with all of his heart. He was a faithful member of Faith Community Baptist Church. Randy deeply loved his church and was there anytime the doors were open. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a decorated veteran receiving many acknowledgments, including two purple heart medals. Randy was known to be a jack of all trades and a very hard worker. He retired from the D.O.T. and then started his own engineering company. Randy enjoyed gardening and bird watching, especially purple martins. Above all earthly things, Randy dearly loved his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Zanzarella and sister, Janice Roney. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years whom he loved dearly, Phyllis Jenkins; children, Earlene Jones, Tracy (Michael) Gilley, Wendall (Cindy Kiser) Nunn, and Kevin (Jenny) Nunn; grandchildren, Jake (Gabby) Zanzarella, Annie (Matt) Jones, Lindsay (Kenneth) Sheek, T.J. (Susanna Macfarland) Gilley, Chasity Falls, Savannah (Evan) Clark, and Kaitlyn (Logan) Cass; great-grandchildren, Sophia Falls, Aubrey Falls, Rylee Falls, and River Mae Clark; sister, Rachel Jenkins; sister-in-law, Marietta Jenkins; and a beloved niece, Karen.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Faith Community Baptist Church in East Bend. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will be held in the church cemetery following the funeral service. Memorials may be made in Randy’s memory to Baptist Asian Missons c/o Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, 4332 Mt. Bethel Church Rd, East Bend, NC 27018 or Brenner Children’s Hospital, make your check payable to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, note "Brenner Children's" on the memo line of your check and send to: Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, P.O.
