Mrs. Rebecca Ann Miller Gentry, 85, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was born in Yadkin County on November 1, 1940 to Troy Miller and Gladys Taylor Miller. Ann graduated from East Bend High School in 1959. She worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for several years until her daughter, Kim, was born, and then she worked at Hanes Hosiery until her son, Tim, was born. As her children grew up, Ann later worked at the Shop Rite in East Bend and JH Clothing in Yadkinville before retiring. She was a member of East Bend Friends Church since 1975. Ann was very active in the church women’s group, and she served in many different areas of the church throughout the years. She served as treasurer for some time, participated in the church choir, and taught the ladies class for many years. Ann and her husband, Tony, liked to travel. Ann enjoyed caring for her home by gardening, cooking, and baking. She always loved doing for others. More than anything, she loved and adored her family deeply. Ann cared so well for each of them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed spending time with them. Proverbs 31:10-12 states “Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil. All the days of her life.” And Proverbs 31:28-29 states “Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” These verses describe who Ann was perfectly. She was so loved and will be missed.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Tony Gentry; daughter, Kim (Jeff) Barnes; son, Tim (Lynn) Gentry; grandchildren, Jared Barnes (Ana Hugendubler), Kelsey (Kyle) Duck, Tyler Gentry, and Grace Gentry; great-grandchildren, Hallie Duck, Reagan Barnes, Hannah Duck, Jamie Duck, and Jonah Duck; sisters, Linda Hutchens and Jeanette Livengood; brother, Jerry (Sandra) Miller; brother-in-law, Gary (Beverly) Gentry; special aunts, Velma Ruth Slater and Ruby Nell Brendle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Lynn Spillman, John Hutchens, and Ray Livengood; and nephews, Jason Hutchens and Todd Spillman.
