Rev. Junior Paul "J.P." Sizemore

Rev. J.P. Sizemore was ushered peacefully home on October 12, 2022. J.P. was the eldest child of Paul and Lola Carlton Sizemore. He was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. J.P. was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Calvin, Alvin and Gary. He is survived by his beloved wife and his rock of 70 years, Charlotte Whitaker Sizemore; children, Debbie Poindexter, Kenneth Sizemore and Robin (Jerry) Bryant; his self-appointed “adopted” son, Moises (Esperanza) Vega; grandchildren, Scott (Shawna) Poindexter, Bridget (Alex) Ross and Brandon (Julia) Bryant; great-grandchildren, Jonah Ross, Raven and Sawyer Poindexter, and Matthew and Lily Bryant; brother, Bobby (Darlene) Sizemore; sisters-in-law, Icie Dinkins and Gail Edwards; aunt, Libby Dull; and many nieces and nephews.

J.P. enjoyed westerns, baseball games, reading, farming, renovations, and sharing vegetables with friends and neighbors. However, his greatest enjoyment was being immersed in the study of God’s Word, and in ministering and loving others. He spent much of his career at Hanes Company while simultaneously pastoring and evangelizing. He was truly “an old-time preacher man” being licensed with the Western North Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Conference (Cornerstone IPHC) in 1970 with ordainment in 1972. Through the years he pastored at Mizpah, Asheboro (twice), Longtown, Cononiah, Jonesville, New Bethel, and Schoolfield in Danville, VA. He also served interims with Congo and West Elkin.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with dear friends Bishop Rev. Mike Ainsworth and former Bishop Rev. Tommy Fuquay officiating. Interment will follow at his beloved neighborhood church, Mitchell’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where he attended as a child. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
