Reva Kate Norman Hutchens

Reva “Kate” Norman Hutchens 96 years old passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June21,2024. She was born November 14, 1927 the daughter of the late Dallas Arthur Norman and Emma Viola Hobson Norman. Proceeded in death by her Husband of 61 years, Alvin Herman Hutchens, their son Norman Hutchens and a sister Ruth Hauser. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Greg) Miller and granddaughter Nicole (Matt) Pardue of East Bend, NC; brother-in-law, Frank Hutchens of Boonville NC; great-grandson, Ryley Rodriguez, who she loved and adored more than anybody in this world and her Bonus grandkids, Sadie and Elam Pardue; Several nieces and nephews. Retired from Western Electric/AT&T. She loved to bake and can (her pickles were the best), and her macaroni and cheese and green beans were unmatched. She was an avid sports lover and loved to watch Nicole and Ryley play ball. There weren't many games she ever missed. When she wasn’t watching them, she was watching ball on tv and rooting for the opposite team as Alvin. She loved her family with her whole heart and stuck around as long as she did, because she said she just didn’t want to leave. The light of her life was her only grandchild, Nicole…that was until Ryley arrived. The bond that was formed between them is strong as they come. She loved her family more than anything and was their rock. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Monday June 24, 2024 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. Her funeral will be conducted at 12:30 following the visitation in the Gentry Family Chapel by Pastor Mitchel See and Rev. Nick Poindexter. Burial will follow at Forbush Friends Church cemetery. The family would like to thank Brookdale Assisted living for their love, patience, and kindness over the last 2 years. They would also like to thank many friends for their love and support that they showed in many different ways, especially over the last few weeks.
