Mr. Robert “Bob” Winfield Underwood, 81, was called home on April 16, 2024, after several years of declining health. He was born in Yadkin County, February 8, 1943, to Robert Miles Underwood and Hazel Mitchell Underwood. He grew up in Hamptonville and graduated from West Yadkin High School in 1961. Bob worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for over 35 years. He also served in the Army National Guard. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dina U. Mathis, and by his son, R. Scott Underwood. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Ginger McDaniel Underwood; daughter, Donita V. Underwood; son, Miles C. Underwood; grandchildren, Zack Groce, Karley V. Trivette and husband Austin Trivette; nephew, Danny Mathis. The Underwood family would like to express our appreciation to his caregivers and therapists over the last couple years: Centerwell and Hugh Chatham Home Health. We are also thankful for the care and support of Mountain Valley Hospice. Special thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Martin Murphy for his kind and compassionate care for many years. There will be no formal visitation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
