Robert Harold Pierce

YADKINVILLE-    Mr. Robert H. Pierce went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2023.  He was born May 21, 1932 in Washington, D.C. to the late Harold and Etta Johnson Pierce.  Mr. Pierce was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.  He continued his service by joining the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in 1953.  Mr. Pierce retired as Lieutenant in 1975 from the Metropolitan D.C. Police Dept. where he had the honor of personally escorting many U.S. Presidents, Senators and high ranking officials throughout his years of service.  Mr. Pierce continued serving in the Washington D.C. area as a United States Capitol Police Officer from 1975-1978.  In 1978, he accepted the position of Chief of Police for Yadkinville Police Department and retired in 1989.  The title of “Chief” stuck with him for 34 years after retirement.  Mr. Pierce loved the Lord, his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carolyn Pierce; his granddaughter, Mindy Hardy; and his sister, Dormae Summers.  Surviving are his children, Jane (J.B.) Lowery, William Pierce, Cindy (Craig) Milan; grandchildren, Casey (John) Tomel, Ben (Christin) Hardy, Tim (Hollie) Lowery, Crystal Jamez, Heather Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Makayla, Tanner, Rylee, Holly, Will, Parker, Jackson, Josiah, Jase, Angelica, Natalie, William; and his sister, Madeline Baker.  The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Friday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Pastor Tim Lowery.  Interment will follow the service in St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2616 Buck Shoals Road, Hamptonville, NC  27020, with Full Military Honors by the N.C. National Honor Guard and Yadkin VFW Post 10346.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Liberty Hospice and Yadkin Nursing Center for their loving care given to Mr. Pierce.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
