Robert Darnell Smith, Jr.

Yadkinville Mr. Robert Darnell Smith, Jr., 78, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at his home. Mr. Smith was born June 24, 1943 in Bertie County to Robert and Mary Creasy Smith. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Smith enjoyed riding his tractor, building various projects, and most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a HAM radio operator as well. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Perkins. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Carol Doss Smith; a daughter, Pamela (David) Bricker; grandchildren, Crystal Danielle Bricker and Devin Scott Bricker; great grandchildren, Kaiden & Braelynn Hennings; a sister, Roberta (Merle) Lewis; brothers-in-law, Tommy Perkins, Joe (Wanda) Doss, Gene (Wanda) Doss, and Kenneth (Fannie) Doss; a sister-in-law, Marie Hutchens; and special friends, Roger Carlton, John (Linda) Cirone, Don & Deb, and Steve Schaper. A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Mr. Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any disabled veteran’s charity.
