Mr. Rodney Allen Brown, 83, of East Bend, died Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He was born in Yadkin County on July 31, 1938 to Harvey H. and Della Mae Matthews Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents. He graduated from East Bend High School and was an active lifelong member of Forbush Friends Meeting where he served as an usher for many years. He held an intermediate builder’s contractor’s license with The North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors and was owner of Harvey H. Brown and Son, Inc. Rodney was a co-owner of Brown Brothers Car Washes and part of his daily routine was maintaining the car washes. He loved his grandchildren and great nieces, he loved spoiling them and they were the light of his life. He also enjoyed baby-sitting his grand dog Reese. He enjoyed fishing at Hatteras Island and NASCAR racing and old westerns. Rodney is survived by his wife, Winanne Coram Brown; two sons, Gavin (Courtney) Brown and Lance (Ashley) Brown; his grandchildren, Harper Brown and Olivia Brown; very special great nieces, Bailey Poindexter and Henley Poindexter; his grand dog Reese; a brother, Jimmy (Linda) Brown; Niece, Amy (Chris) Harward and their children, Logan and Alexa (Corey) Crabtree; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mary Lynn and Donald Vestal and their children, John and his son Charlie Vestal and Tammy Poindexter and her children, Bailey and Henley Poindexter. His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Forbush Friends Meeting with Rev. Mitchell See and John Vestal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend.
