Mr. Roger Smith, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. He was born in Yadkin County on October 18, 1940. Roger was a musician and was best known for his beautiful rendition of Floyd Cramer’s song “Last Date” that he would play on the piano. He had the most caring, giving heart. Roger was well known in the community and was very well loved. His pride and joy were his family, especially his granddaughter, Baylei. He will be deeply missed by all who had the special privilege to know him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Smith. Roger is survived by his son, Todd Smith and his wife, Chastity Smith; grandchildren, Baylei Smith, Nick Warner, and Tristan Southard; sisters, Betty Lou Fallin, Shirley Evans, and Shelby Lyons; brothers, Bill Smith and Rickey Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Gentry Family Chapel with Pastor Luke Money officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Smith family.
