Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Durham

Feb 12, 1950 — Oct 13, 2026

Hamptonville

Ronnie passed at his home in Hamptonville, NC after years of failing health. He was a kind, tender-hearted man that loved meeting and talking with people. He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful story teller, many about his childhood and was also known to have some good ghost stories too. Ronnie was a jack of all trades and a talented woodworker. He was a loyal child of God who loved spreading God’s word and listening to good gospel music. He was an animal lover and especially cherished his cat, Gigi.

Ronnie attended East Wilkes High School. Following school, he had a long career as an inside contractor salesman at Mebane Lumber Co. in Mebane, NC, at Wicks Lumber in Burlington, NC, and at Overman’s Building Supply in Burlington, NC, as well as an appliance repair man at Wooten Appliance in Burlington, NC. He loved fishing and gardening and sitting on the back porch enjoying nature’s beauty. He was always happy to see visitors and very thankful for years of help from his sister-in-law, Sue Durham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Ralph Durham, Sr.; his mother, Mary Ola Waddell Durham; and his brothers, Jerry Michael Durham and Claude Ralph Durham, Jr.

He is survived by his son, Jamie Lee Durham and wife, Angela Durham; his daughter, Kristie Renea Durham; his granddaughter, Nicole Renea Durham; his grandson, Matthew Wayne Durham; and four great-grandchildren, Camber Truitt, Avery Turner, Jensen Turner, and Levi Durham.

The family will hold a private ceremony on the banks of the New River, where Ronnie had so many fond memories. And where he will forever be part of God’s beautiful creation.
