Roxie Childress Allgood

Mrs. Roxie Childress Allgood, 88, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022. She was born in Yadkin County on October 14, 1934 to John Ervin Childress and Myrtle McCollum Childress. Roxie enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing music, and spending time with loved ones. She will be missed by all who had the special privilege to know her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Virginia Dale Allgood and Vernon Leonard Allgood; grandson, Jeffery Joel Jenkins; and siblings, Lucille C. Childress, William Ray Childress, John Robert Childress, and David Lee Childress. She is survived by seven children, Dean (Darlene) Allgood, Bonnie (Steve) Williams, Isaac (Sue) Allgood, Darlene (Jackie) Jenkins, Randy Allgood, Shanon (Alison) Allgood, and Terry Allgood; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth C. Carrigan, Betty C. Bell, Wilma C. Johnson, and Minnie Pearl C. Hicks; and brothers, Bobby Wayne Childress and Allen Wayne Childress. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville. Interment will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice and chaplain, Mark Brown, for the compassionate care and time given to Mrs. Allgood and her family.
