Roy Verne Harrison

July 20, 1935 — October 31, 2025

Roy “Verne” Harrison went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 31st of October, 2025. He was born on July 20th, 1935, to the late Montgomery and Maddie Harrison. He was a life-long member of Center United Methodist Church, where he loved singing in the choir. Verne was very active in his community, being a member of the Lions Club, and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant scout master. He enjoyed playing instruments like the piano, guitar, and banjo (all of which he was self-taught). Verne had a passion for old cars and other antiques. He also served his country for many years in the Army, and then in the Army reserves. Most of all, he had a deep passion for his family, as shown by how he raised his children and grandchildren, as well as striving for them to receive a good education.

In addition to his parents, Verne was preceded in death by his sisters, Zera Hauser, Faye Brown, Mary Lee Collins; and niece, Millie Owens. He is survived by his loving wife, Patty Harrison; children, Tamara (John, Jr.) Murphy, and Timothy (Amy) Harrison; grandchildren, Julia Murphy, John Murphy III, Amanda (Bryan) Streetman; great-grandchildren, Harrison Streetman, Benjamin Streetman; sister, Ferne Longworth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Veterans Affairs and or the Boy Scouts of America. A private graveside service will be held for Mr. Harrison. The staff of Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville will be serving the Harrison family.
