Ruby Pinnix Shore

October 29, 1923 — October 20, 2022

Ruby Lee Pinnix Shore passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022, in her sleep, with her loving daughter Lee Ann by her side.     Ruby was born in Yadkin County on October 29, 1923, to Claude and Evelyn Pinnix.  She married Fletcher Shore in 1941.
Ruby graduated from West Yadkin High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1941 and was awarded the AJ Martin Trophy for being the smartest in her class.  Not only did she have a stellar scholastic career at WYHS, she also starred on the basketball team.  Her love of sports never wavered, and she so enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in all their activities.  She faithfully rooted for the Carolina Tarheels and Atlanta Braves.
Her intelligence, grace, and no-nonsense attitude could not be matched.   She retired from the Yadkin Oil Company in Hamptonville after 32 years of service where she was admired for her intellect and organizational skills.   She was a loyal member of Asbury United Methodist Church.  The titles she loved most, however, were Mama and Granny.    She cherished time with her family.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Fletcher, son, Johnny, son-in-law, Allen and grandson, John Wesley, as well as her siblings, Nelson, Edith, Paul, Helen, Louise, Tommy, Joe, and Richard.
She was so loved by her surviving family, daughter, Lee Ann Day, daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shore, grandchildren, Bradley Shore, Nicole Shore, Natalie Matthews (Jason), Grant Day (Sarah,) great grandchildren Hope Abel (Anthony,) Isaac Shore, Jacob Shore, Sam Shore, Mason Day, Stella Matthews, Lyla Matthews, and great-great-grandson Liam Abel.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their kind care as well as her special nieces who lovingly cared for her and checked in with her often.

The family will receive friends at Asbury United Methodist Church, Monday , October 24, 2022 from 2:00- 3:00 PM.  A funeral  service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM with Rev. Julie Wilburn officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials made to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 84, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
