Ruby Mae Hobson Sprinkle

Ruby Sprinkle of Hamptonville, NC passed peacefully on June 9, 2026 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Born on December 17, 1939 to the late Jasper and Nancy Hobson, Ruby grew up in the Forbush community and graduated from Yadkinville High School. She later attended Forsyth Technical College and, after finishing her studies there, spent her career in the medical field as a CNA2 caring for others. She was a loyal and dedicated member of Forbush Baptist Church where she served on the Hospitality Committee, the Call Committee and offered her help in any other capacity needed. She was always willing to share her amazing dishes at any church function and was best known for her, made from scratch, German Chocolate Cake. But her favorite church activity was tending the nursery on Sunday mornings. She loved all of those sweet children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she lived a faithful life, will be terribly missed but always fondly remembered.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Gaither and Ruby Sprinkle, her beloved husband, Bill, of 67 years, brothers Ralph Hobson, Willie Gray Hobson and Bruce Hobson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Becky Frye (Jerry), son Dave Sprinkle (Kathy), grandson Gaither Frye (Rebekah), great granddaughter Maggie Frye, and her eldest brother, David Hobson.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Forbush Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the team at Mountain Valley Hospice for their amazing care and support to our Mom and to our family over the past few weeks. While "Thank You" doesn't seem to be enough, we also express our sincere gratitude to Isobel, Debbie, Jean, Rose and Gail who have provided in home care and friendship to Mom over the past several years.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the National Institute on Aging (NIA) for Alzheimer's Research.
