Rufus Edward Hutchens

Mr. Rufus Edward Hutchens, 79, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025. He was born March 30, 1946 in Davie County to the late Roby Evan Hutchens and Ida Chandler Hutchens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Hutchens, Roy Hutchens, Romie Hutchens, R.F. Hutchens; his sisters, Mary Ruth Hutchens, Ethel Myers, Yvon Felts. Mr. Hutchens retired with 36 years of service from RJR. He loved raising beagles, rabbit hunting, working in his yard and gardening. He is survived by his daughters, Shelia (Stephen) Royal, Cynthia Hanes, Brandi Hutchens; grandchildren, Evan Lynn Royal, Gage Allen, Lilah Allen, Hasten Allen, Bethany Matthews; sister, Betty Hutchens Couch; and his 1st wife, Dorothy Mae Garner Hutchens; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the care givers, the staff at Forsyth Hospital, Baptist Hospital, the many ambulance services and EMS that cared for Mr. Hutchens.
