Scottie Sue Adams Dinkins, of Yadkinville, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was born March 7, 1935 to the late E.C. Adams and Ina Swift Adams. Scottie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yadkinville, where she sang in the choir and played handbells as long as her health permitted. She graduated from Yadkinville High School in 1953 and attended Woman’s College in Greensboro (UNCG) where she graduated the Secretarial Commercial Course. She married Benjamin H. Dinkins, Jr. on July 11, 1954. They were blessed with two sons, Brad and Scott. She worked at the Second Army Headquarters at Fort Meade, Maryland while her husband was in service and later retired from the Yadkin County Department of Social Services as Income Maintenance Caseworker with 32 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Harrison Dinkins, Jr. She is survived by her sons, David Bradley Dinkins and wife, Karen of Yadkinville, and Benjamin Scott Dinkins and wife, Helen of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa), Melissa (Adam), and Garrett (Sylvia); great-grandchildren, Blaine, Adam, Samuel, Alyson, and Eliza; sister, Jean Carol (J.E.) Southard; brother, Kenneth (Toni) Adams; nieces and nephews, Cooper Adams, Lindsey Adams, Johnny (Sue) Southard, and Byron (Becky) Southard; and a special longtime family friend, Jerrie Wright Hayes. A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Yadkin Memorial Gardens with her grandson, Rev. Matthew Dinkins officiating.
