BOONVILLE- Mrs. Sheila “Chris” Parker Shore, 73, our loving wife, “Mama”, “Nana”, “Great-Nana”, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2023 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born December 9, 1949 in Surry County to the late Thad Monroe and Ruby Nell Hinshaw Benton. Chris was a graduate of Starmount High School’s first graduating class in 1968. She spent her life working and helping others throughout the community, either as a Nanny, helping in tobacco, and being a homemaker. Chris was a faithful member of Charity Baptist Church, and was a lover of Southern Gospel Music. She helped to organize and promote several different Southern Gospel Artists through the southeast, and made lots of lasting friendships within the Southern Gospel Music family. She loved flowers, working in her yard, hummingbirds, and traveling to the mountains and especially to the beach. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband of 38 years, Wilson Tony Parker; an infant sister; her sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and John D. Snow; Sister-in-law, Norma Parker Shore; brother-in-law, Harvey Bates; mother-in-law, Vonnie Hicks; and her father-in-law, Tony Parker. Surviving are her husband, Eddie Shore, of the home; her daughters, Lora Parker and April (Kent) Wooten; step-son, Andrew (Shannon) Shore; grandchildren, Bridget (Clayton) Cole, Katlyn (Andrew) Hutchens and Chandler Wooten; step-grandson, Anderson Shore; 2 great-grandchildren, Liam Cole and Teller Cole; her sister, Sandy Bates; brother, Larry Benton; brother-in-law, David (Cathy) Shore; and several nieces, nephews, and special dear friends. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Charity Baptist Church by Rev. Eddy Driver, Rev. Marty Nixon, and her daughter, Lora Parker. She will lie in-state from 2:30-3:00 PM Tuesday before the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center 9th Floor, Dr. William Baker, Nurse Sherry Coggin and staff, SECU Hospice Care of Yadkin, Woltz Hospice Home and Mountain Valley Hospice, her neighbors, and to her church family for all the prayers, cards, visits, and loving care given to her. Flowers are welcome and/or memorials may be made to either, Charity Baptist Church Music Department, Southern Gospel Music Association, Joy FM, or to the American Cancer Society.
