Shelby Brown Moxley

Mrs. Shelby Jean Brown Moxley, 86, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024. She was born July 19, 1937 in Yadkin County to the late William “Willie” Daniel Brown and Nettie Casstevens Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy (Kim) Brown Moxley, Stacie (Kenneth) Brown Bryant; her brother, ND (Nola) Brown, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moxley was a member of North Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Shelby enjoyed gardening, canning, music, and she loved cooking and taking food to the sick in her community. She was a very loving wife and mother and she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Edwin Gray Moxley; her children, Bradley Gray (Keena) Moxley, Suzanne (Dean) Moxley Wilkins; grandchildren, Tori (Blake) Markle, Grayson (Elizabeth) Smith, Laura Grace Moxley, William Bradley Moxley; great-grandchildren, Hunter Myers, Sophia Myers, Baelyn Turner, Emma Myers, Jax Markle; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Linda Williams, Dana Ladd, and Yvonne Cline. The family will receive friends Friday, June 28, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2024 at North Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Link, Rev. James Pardue, and Rev. Vernon Brown officiating. Mrs. Moxley will lie-in-state from 1:20 PM until 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkin County, 243 N. Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Forsyth Memorial Hospital especially Courtney NP, and the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice for the loving care given to Shelby and her family and also all of the friends and family for all the thoughts and prayers.
