Susan Long Harrison

Mrs. Susan Long Harrison, 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Woltz Hospice Home. She was born in Surry County on March 11, 1951 to Lindsay and Nora Long. Susan retired from the Yadkin Valley Magazine. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, listening to music, and most of all, being with her friends and family. Susan loved her family very dearly. She will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rob, Jake, and Lee Long and one sister, Gladys Bennett. She is survived by her children, Candie (Tim) Speer and Christopher Johnson; grandchildren, Mark (Ailee) Speer and Matt (Becca) Speer; great-grandchildren, Letti and Theo Speer; sisters, Sandra “Toby” Long and Sarah Roberts; special animals, Daisy and Woody; and many loving extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church in Advance with Pastor Ronnie Craddock officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Susan’s memory to Mountain Valley Hospice and Woltz Hospice Home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice and Woltz Hospice Home staff for the loving and compassionate care given to Susan and her family.
