Sylvia Jean Hutchens

Mrs. Sylvia Jean Hutchens, 71, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was born August 27, 1954 to Silas Lee Hutchens and Katie McCormick Hutchens. Sylvia retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 36 years. She enjoyed going to the beach. Sylvia spent much of her time gardening and had a great love for flowers. She loved her doggies, Gismo and Sophie very much. Sylvia never met a stranger and had the best personality. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shaunnan Lee Segrave; brothers, Vauda Hutchens and Dink Hutchens; and a nephew, Michael Hutchens. She is survived by her loving husband, Elbert Allen; a daughter, Stephanie Segrave; sons, Shane (Pam) Allen, Matthew (Heather) Allen, and Joshua (Amanda) Allen; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephew, Keith Hutchens; and niece, Emily Segraves Vestal.

A celebration of life service will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the family.
