Whitaker
BOONVILLE – Mr. Terry Gray Whitaker, 72, of Center Road passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born June 5, 1953 in Yadkin County to the late James Harold and Betty Joyner Whitaker.
Mr. Whitaker was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, was a former member of the Yadkinville Jaycees, loved fishing in his younger years, and after his retirement, became a tin can connoisseur, traveling the roads of the county picking up cans to keep the roads clean. Mr. Whitaker loved trains and was a member of the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC., where his favorite train was the Polar Express at Christmas. He loved spending time with his family either going to the beach or shopping.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry Ray Whitaker, and by several of his friends that he helped to look after, Neil, Johnny, and Eugene. Surviving are his sisters, Sonya (Ray) Peele, Sharron (David) Sloop; his special friend, Charles Dinkins; and special cousin, Kenneth Sizemore.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His graveside service will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Center Memorial Cemetery by Rev. Justin Douglas and his cousin, Kenneth Sizemore.
