Toby Lynn Welborn

Toby Lynn Welborn, 67, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, June 6, 2025. He was born November 4, 1957, in Yadkinville to the late Coy Edward Welborn and Ruby Marie Welborn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Surviving is his beloved wife, Susan Welborn; son, Wendell (Mandy) Jenkins; grandchildren, Isaiah Caden Jenkins and Allison Mae Jenkins; brother, Ed (Peggy) Welborn; nieces, Jena (Casey) Wilmoth, Elizabeth Anne (Ryan) Richardson and Meagan Hagood, great-niece and nephew, Lucy Anne Richardson and Brooks Robert Richardson; life-long friend/brother from another mother, Tim (Lynn) Pardue, his rescue cats Tiger Tom and Daisy Mae who adored him.

Toby cherished spending time with his family and pets. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and NASCAR. Toby also enjoyed spending time at the beach with his wife of 14 years and playing golf with his lifelong friend, Tim Pardue.

Toby worked in nuclear construction for most of his career, developing many friendships across the country. His willingness to share his knowledge and experience impacted those around him. Most recently he worked for SMRC where he gained the title "Paw Paw" from his younger coworkers.

A Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Union Baptist Church Activity Center, (889 Union Baptist Church Road Hamptonville, NC 27020), in the multi-purpose building with Rev. Kenny Pardue and Rev. Brad Hopper (cousin to Toby) will bring the message and share personal stories. Cranberry Creek Bluegrass Band will provide music for the service. The family will be receiving friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victory Junction on their website at https://victoryjunction.org/. Toby loved all things NASCAR and Victory Junction strives to enrich the lives of children with serious illnesses and chronic medical conditions by providing life-changing camp experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering; all in a medically safe environment at no cost to the camper or their family.
