Mr. Ulysses E. “UE” Martin, 89, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at his home. Mr. Martin was born May 31, 1933 in Surry County to Ulysses “Elton” and Ina Beck Martin. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of South Oak Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, RA Leader, served on the cemetery committee, and usher among other things. He also worked with the Baptist Men Disaster Relief on multiple occasions.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Cook Martin; and a grandson, Joshua Martin. He is survived by three children, David (Angela) Martin, Douglas (Debbie) Martin, and Dana (Ronald) Quesinberry; grandchildren, Brittany (Matt) Thompson, Crystal Miller (Travis), Amanda (Dustin) Burton, Taylor Martin, Tori Martin (Cody), Kolton Quesinberry (Carley), Kord Quesinberry, and Kacyn Quesinberry; great grandchildren, Jack, Beau, Hunter, Kaitlyn, and Cassie; and his furry best friend, Sandy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Friday, September 2, 2022 at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Hauser and Dr. Phil Beavers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Oak Ridge Baptist Church Youth Fund, 1336 Lone Hickory Rd, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Mtn. Valley Hospice, Patty Williams, Alice Straughn and Mike Bauguess for the loving care given to Mr. Martin.
