Valonta Speer Wall

Valonta Speer Wall passed away on September 9th, 2026, in the loving home she built in East Bend, North Carolina. She was born on September 22, 1949 to Frank Loville Martin Speer and Walter Henry Speer. She was preceded in death by her parents. Valonta was a devoted wife, daughter, mother and sister. She felt family was her main purpose in life and gave of herself unselfishly to those she loved. Valonta leaves behind her husband, Michael Arvin Wall of 57 years and one sister, Cynthia Dianne Steelman who lives in Lexington, South Carolina. Family was Valonta’s joy in life and the most important thing to her aside from her faith in Jesus Christ and her love of the Lord. Her legacy will live on through her children Candice Denae Wall (Shane Mason) of East Bend and Michael Bradley Wall (Jennifer) of Yadkinville and grandchildren, Hannah Dinkins, Callie Dinkins, Kaitlyn Sparks (Brock), Meredith Strickland (Hunter), Cameron Wall (Caroline), and Mallory Wall and great grandchildren, Raelynn Strickland, Berkleigh Strickland, and Colsen Wall as they cherish her memory. Valonta thought fondly about the special times she had growing up with her cousins, keeping them dear to her heart. She was grateful for several nephews and nieces who she was able to share in their lives over the years. In her youth Valonta attended Enon Baptist Church, after marriage she and her husband attended New Home UMC in Smithtown where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was actively involved with UMW, and also led and sang in the choir. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, and was a half-way decent seamstress, even making her own wedding dress. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Mountain Valley Hospice for all their assistance in providing care to Valonta. Thanks is also extended to the many friends and family members who dropped by and checked in on Valonta and Michael throughout her decline in health. While Valonta loved flowers, she would rather have them living and growing, so memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, St. Jude’s Hospital, or the Shriner’s Hospital. Valonta often gave to various charities and would be honored to have a memorial given to any charity you may choose. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at New Home Methodist Church at a later date. Valonta leaves you all with one last thought: When your heart feels empty, filling it with happy memories can help you find your smile. Memories are the legacy of love.
