UNION GROVE -  Mrs. Vennie Edna Wells Souther, 97, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 26, 2023.  She was born February 17, 1926 in Wilkes County to the late Hiram Wells, Sr. and Vallie Anderson Wells.  Mrs. Souther loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, enjoyed reading and studying her Bible, listening to different ministers on the radio; and spending time with her family.  She loved each of them, especially when fixing a “Honey-Do” lists for them or arranging a time for the whole family to share some laughs and be together.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Graydon Yale Souther; 2 sisters, Ferne Templeton, Blanche Sale; brother, Jack Wells; and her infant twin brother and sister.  Surviving are her son, Rev. Joe Souther, and wife, Rosie Lee; 2 daughters, Jane Moxley, and husband, Roger Oliver; Marie Lucas, and husband, Philip; grandchildren, Cynthia Shore and husband, Allen; Cheryl Myers and husband, Will; Mary Moxley Sale; Ann Marie Moxley, and husband, Marty Oliver; Julie, and husband, Mark Morgan; Joshua Elliott; Matthew Lucas, and wife, Michelle; Lindsay Fusaiotti; Chrissy Waggett; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, H.M. Wells, Jr, and wife, Dorothy; 2 sisters, Pearl Trivette, Dorothy Rash, and husband, Raeford; 2 sisters-in-law, Alma Jean Wells, Mary Ruth Souther; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.  The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 AM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 North in Yadkinville.  Mrs. Souther will also be available for public viewing during the day from 8am to 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.  Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM on Thursday in the Gentry Family Chapel by her son, Rev. Joe Souther, and grandson, Major Matthew Lucas.  Interment will follow in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2781 S. Windy Gap Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.  In lieu in flowers, memorials can be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2781 S. Windy Gap Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.  Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville is serving the Souther family.
