Vonda G. Swaim

HAMPTONVILLE – Ms. Vonda “Von” Swaim, 78, of Collins Road passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026. She was born April 23, 1948 in Surry County to the late Weldon Swaim and Erie Inez Day Swaim.

Von was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church and loved her Berean Sunday School Class. All children were drawn to Von and she dearly loved her nieces and nephews. She was lovingly called “Bonk” by her great-nephews Colby and Jace. Some of her favorite things were meals at Bo-Jangles and watching scary movies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew Tim Jenkins and an infant nephew Elijah Swaim.

Surviving are her siblings Bobby (Linda) Swaim, Bill (Monette) Swaim, Nancy (Jerry) Gregory, Brenda Whitaker and Judy Stoker, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am, Friday, July 10, 2026 at Fall Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville. Von’s funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am Friday, at the church with Rev. Don Hudson and Rev. L.C. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Marler Road Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family extends gratitude to the staff at Forsyth Medical Center and Hugh Chatham Hospital for their care of Von, and to friends, family and church members for their prayers.
