Gray Mullis

William “Gray” Mullis 73, of Yadkinville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Gray was born on August 4, 1952, to the late Benjamin Kimball Mullis and Lillie Mae Tulbert Mullis.

Gray lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, unwavering faith, and a deep love for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gray was preceded in death by his nine brothers and sisters: Betty Couch, Lois Medvetz, Virginia Mullis, Benjamin Mullis and his twin brother, Glenn Mullis, Joseph Mullis, Mildred Caudle, Edward Mullis, and Roger Mullis, as well as four nieces and one nephew.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 52 years, Michele Mullis; his children, Stevie (Talesha) Mullis, Carrie (Randall) Bowman, Mikie (Crystal) Mullis, Richie (Kerri) Mullis, and Danie (Andy) Simmons; fifteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and many special nieces and nephews. He shared a particularly close bond with his special nephews, Bobby Couch and Keith Caudle.

Gray was known by everyone who met him as a man who would help anyone in need. He was the owner and operator of Longtown Garage, which he established in 1989. Through his work, he built not only a successful business but also lifelong friendships with generations of customers. He spent many years working alongside his children in the shop, teaching them the value of hard work. His remarkable ability to diagnose and repair almost anything earned him the respect of everyone who knew him, but it was his honesty, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand that made him truly unforgettable.

Above all, Gray loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. He also found happiness in life's simple pleasures—playing with his beloved dogs, tending his vegetable garden, growing beautiful flowers, and fishing. Whatever Gray set his hands to, he did with skill, patience, and pride.

Gray leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, hard work, and quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout the years. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of his Savior.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The memorial service will be held beside Longtown Garage.

The service will be officiated by Preacher Paul Stewart. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Paul Stewart for his mission work, Psalm 121 Ministries, 3607 Little Mountain Road, Jonesville, NC 28642.
