Zena Mae Saunders Fleming

East Bend – Zena Mae Saunders Fleming, 83, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022. She was born June 25, 1939 in Yadkin County to the late Luther Monroe Saunders and Dorethie Matthews Saunders. Zena enjoyed reading, working in flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved playing and watching softball when she was younger. Zena was a member at Richmond Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Ross Fleming; children, Anthony Kim Fleming, E. Paul Fleming; grandson, John Ross Myers; sisters, Lola Mae Saunders, Jesse Pearl Myers, Blanche Weatherman, Betty Goodboe; brothers, Junior Monroe Saunders, Thomas “Shorty” Saunders, Sammy Saunders, Jimmy Saunders. Surviving are her children, Sheila Fleming, Karen (David) Myers; grandchildren, Mark (Laura) Myers, Paul (Anna) Myers, Sarah (Joshua) Tackitt, Emily Fleming, Grace (Devon) Watts; great grandchildren, John Ross Tackitt, Elias Paul Tackitt, Marcus David Myers, Noah James Myers; sisters, Shirley McIntosh, Patti Ratledge; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, October 24, 2022 at Richmond Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Luke Money, Dr. Dan Merritt, and Dr. David Myers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend, which is serving the Fleming family.
